Girls tennis: Litchfield advances one singles player, two doubles teams in Section 6A individual tournament

Oct. 13—ROGERS — The Litchfield girls tennis team advanced singles player Isla Dille and both its doubles teams to the semifinals in the Section 6A individual tournament Wednesday at Rogers Tennis Club.

Meanwhile, New London-Spicer singles player Maya Mayhew and the Wildcats' doubles team of Delaney Hanson and Brooke Adelman have also advanced to the semifinals.

The semifinals take place Tuesday at Rogers Tennis Club. The top two singles players and top two doubles teams advance to the state Class A tournament Oct. 27 at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis. Litchfield already has qualified for the team tournament.

Wednesday in singles, fourth-seeded Mayhew faces No. 1 Leah Maddock of Osakis. Mayhew advanced by beating Annika Heieie of Belgade-Brooten-Elrosa 6-0, 6-1, then knocked off Megan Thorfinnson of Minnewaska 6-1, 6-2.

In the other singles semifinal, third-seeded Dille faces No. 2 Hailey Hokanson of Sauk Centre. Dille beat Franzi Bayer of St. John's Prep 6-0, 6-0, then defeated Belle Weisser of Osakis 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, Litchfield's Karlee Prahl and Ryanna Steinhaus are the top seed. They'll face No. 5 Ellie George and Madeline Anderson of Osakis in the semifinals. Prahl and Steinhaus beat Sophie Nelson and Lily Kuhl of St. John's Prep 6-0, 6-0, then defeated Jordan Proehl and Avery Dierenfeld of New London-Spicer 6-0, 6-1.

In the other doubles semifinal will be second-seeded Lauren Erickson and Olivia Olson of Litchfield against No. 3 Delaney Hanson and Brooke Adelman of NLS.

Erickson and Olson beat Sauk Centre's Abbie Masog and Michelle Straub 6-0, 6-0 and Minnewaska's Grace Jensen and Zoey Elwood 6-1, 6-0.

Hanson and Adleman opened with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Grace Dauer and Ari Surma of St. John's Prep, then beat Olivia Bleick and Sydney Dahl of Minnewaska 6-0, 6-2.
