Girls tennis roundup: Rocori dominates Willmar, 7-0

Sep. 7—WILLMAR — The Willmar girls tennis team ran into a tough Rocori squad Tuesday at Willmar High School.

Rocori improved to 3-0 in the Central Lakes Conference and 7-2 overall with the 7-0 victory over the host Cardinals.

"Rocori is a tough match," Willmar head coach Cayle Hovland said. "Right now, we're trying to figure out kind of where we're putting the girls. We're going to play around with different doubles teams in these upcoming meets to see what works.

"The girls are working hard and we just have to work hard on being more consistent."

Willmar nearly picked up a victory at No. 1 doubles. Rocori's Kaitlin Reitmeier and Olivia Schreifels defeated Abby Hisken and Heidi Kath 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Willmar is now 0-4 in conference play and 0-4 overall. The Cardinals have another home meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday against Alexandria.

Combined between all seven matches, NLS dropped four sets. No. 1 singles Mya Mayhew, No. 3 singles Emily Ruter, No. 4 singles Ella Wieland, and the No. 2 doubles pair of Jordan Proehl/Avery Dierenfeld swept their matches.

BBE's No. 3 doubles pairing of Ellan Fischer and Andrea Douvier won the most games of any Jaguars with two.

NLS plays at 4 p.m. Thursday at Annandale. BBE plays at 4 p.m. Thursday at Morris/Chokio-Alberta.

Through the power of dominance found in their singles matches, Litchfield came out on top over Osakis with a victory at Litchfield.

Karlee Prahl, Isla Dille and Kaitlyn Palmer won their singles matches. Prahl dropped one set in her win.

Sophie Stilwell and Trinity Hawes won the sole doubles match for the Dragons, going the distance to earn a 7-5 win in the third set.

Leah Maddock was the only Osakis singles player to win, taking the No.1 match.

Litchfield is host to Glencoe-Silver Lake in a Wright County Conference match at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The Lakers' Jayda Kolstoe dominated in her victory at No. 4 singles. She swept her first set and lost one point in the second game.

The No. 3 pairing of Avarie Uhde/Katy Vold matched Kolstoe's success, winning in the same fashion.

Brooke Lindeman, at No. 2 singles, and the No. 1 doubles team of Ashley Klaassen and Annie Marquardt were the two winning matches for Montevideo.
