Girls Tennis Roundup: Willmar walks away with two wins

Sep. 20—BIG LAKE — Competing in a quadrangular at Big Lake, the Willmar girls' tennis team wrapped up Saturday with a 2-1 showing.

The Cardinals got wins over the host Hornets (4-3) and Roseau (6-1). The lone loss came against Alexandria (4-3).

Kessa Mara went 3-0 on the day, with two singles wins and a doubles win with Caroline Becker. Becker was also 3-0 with a pair of singles wins.

Twin sisters Alise and Ashlie Staebell were 2-1 while seeing time at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles. Kylee Berget had a 2-1 showing, with wins coming with Lizzie Eide and Heidi Kath.

On Tuesday, Willmar will host Sauk Rapids for a Central Lakes Conference dual meet.

Isla Dille won a 6-0, 6-0 match for Litchfield over Avarie Uhde at No. 4 singles. At No. 1 singles, the Dragons' Ryana Steinhaus beat Addy Randt, 6-1, 6-1.

The Lakers' win came at No. 1 doubles as Maddie and Alissa Thorfinnson edged Britney Prahl and Lauren Erickson, 6-2, 6-2.
