Girls volleyball tournament today, Sunday in Toledo

TOLEDO — The Glass City Gauntlet Girls Volleyball Tournament is today and Sunday at Glass City Center, 401 Jefferson Ave.

Matches will take place 8 a.m.-9 p.m. today and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.

More than 5,000 athletes, families and spectators are expected.

The tournament features some of the top youth volleyball players in the country from USA Volleyball (USAV), Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and Junior Volleyball Association (JVA) teams.

“We’re thrilled to be kicking off 2024 with the Glass City Gauntlet volleyball tournament. The Glass City Center has proven to be a desirable and excellent host for a variety of sporting events,” said Nick Anderson, sports relationship manager at Destination Toledo.

The Glass City Gauntlet is organized by Hype Nation, an organization that aims to expand the sport of volleyball through tournaments, education and player engagement.

The Glass City Center, a performing arts and convention center in downtown Toledo, is located in the former SeaGate Convention Centre. The venue offers a ballroom, reception area and terrace that overlooks the Mud Hens ballpark. It has 26 meeting rooms and a 75,000-foot expo hall.
