The Florida High School Athletic Association announced last week that St. Cloud High School will host the Class 3A girls weightlifting state meet on Saturday, Feb. 13.

Suwannee High of Live Oak will be the site for the Class 1A meet on Feb. 12 and for 2A the following day to mark the first time the girls championships, which became sanctioned in 2004, are held at more than one common site.

This is the first year with three classifications. The sport had just one class through 2015 and expanded to two classes for the past five seasons.

The qualifying process for the all three classes continues this week with region meets.

On Saturday, Hagerty hosts the 3A Region 2 competition and St. Cloud hosts the 3A Region 3 event.
