Gisele Bundchen isn't shy about detailing her restrictive, mainly plant-based diet, and she says her whole family eats that way, both for their health and to benefit the environment.

"We all love it," she told People. "It's not only good for our health and makes us feel good, but it is also good for the planet!" She credits her friend, environmentalist and author Paul Hawkins, for encouraging her to stick to the plant-based plan because of its positive impact on global warming.

Gisele, along with daughter Vivian and son Benjamin, are actively involved in planning and providing what ends up on their plates. Bundchen and her quarterback husband Tom Brady have a home garden where they source a lot of meal ingredients, and her kids even help her with the bees they keep to harvest their own honey. (One thing Gisele doesn't let her kids do? Eat more than one piece of candy on Halloween.)

Bundchen said she wants her kids to connect with nature in any way possible. Whether it's helping in the garden, picking strawberries, playing outside without shoes and using their imagination instead of staying glued to screens, she wants them to appreciate the outdoors as much as she does.

Their healthy lifestyle doesn't stop with diet. The fit family does some sort of exercise every day, and they take it outdoors as long as weather permits. Gisele's efforts to keep her family healthy double as an example for her kids to be conscious of the earth and environment. "I love the Earth and every living being on it," she told People, and her commitment to earthy eating is just one way to show respect for the planet she loves so much. "In a way, we are all Earth trustees, and we need to make sure we leave it in a better place for future generations."
