Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign begins with large donation in Lubbock

Giving Tuesday started early with a large donation on Monday to The Community Foundation of West Texas.

On Monday, the foundation and its partner non-profits started Giving Tuesday, which brings charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students together "to celebrate generosity and to give. The funds raised during the event go toward 61 Lubbock area non-profits.

United Supermarkets kicked-off the campaign with a contribution of $7,500 on Monday.

"We are so proud to help support the Giving Tuesday movement in our community," said Shannon Miller, chief merchandising officer for The United Family. "The Community Foundation of West Texas has done an amazing thing by coordinating these efforts to support non-profit organizations in Lubbock. We are blessed to be able to contribute."
