Rotary Club donates $30k to local non-profits

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Rotary Club of Grand Junction is excited to celebrate the winners of the Winter 2024 Robin Hood Grants.

This year, the committee chose a theme that reflected Rotary International’s dedication to mental health. Winners will receive $30,000 in total, thanks to the Rotary Club of Grand Junction and their parent organization for matching the grant funds.

The Robin Hood Committee selected the following groups for the grants:

  • Western Slope Center for Children Therapy Services

  • Center for Enriched Communications Counseling Services

  • Orchard Mesa Elementary Schools Neurodiversity Cottage Program Regional Outreach

  • Veteran Engagement Resources Break Stigma Program

  • Support-A-Soldier Clearinghouse

  • BAM! Creative Minds + Healthy Minds Project

  • Mesa County Valley School District 51`s Councilor Training

  • The Art Center of Wester Colorado Artability Program

Rotary District 5470 matched donations made by the Grand Junction Rotary Club, which made the total amount distributed $30,000.

Grand Junction Rotary Club President Steve Schultz told WesternSlopeNow the group looked for non-profits focusing on mental health to make donations to for their Winter 2024 Robin Hood Grants.

We work with underserved youth and the arts and help empower through art and business mentorship with local artists. We provide a lot of resources such as art supplies, technial supplies, art shows, internships, commissions, art lessons, work shops, [and] work study programs.

The Grand Junction Rotary Club raised money through several fundraisers throughout the year, including a portion of the Banff Film Festival Ticket Sales.
