Gladewater ISD closes Thursday, Friday due to ‘dramatic’ increase of flu absences

GLADEWATER, Texas (KETK) – Gladewater ISD will be closed Thursday and Friday due to “dramatic increases in flu cases for both students and staff.”

Texas launches dashboard to track the ‘big three’ respiratory viruses

The closure was announced on the district’s Facebook page, with the district stating the closure would allow time for deep cleaning and sanitizing of all campuses and offices.

“The health and safety of students and employees is our top priority,” according to Gladewater ISD. “Thank you for your understanding and partnership with us as we take the necessary steps to protect our school community.”

The district will resume normal operation on Monday.
