All-glass House of Music blooms in Budapest park

This is Budapest’s futuristic new concert hall

Locator: Budapest, Hungary

featuring serrated glass walls and 100 light wells in the roof

The House of Music was designed by Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto

MARTON HORN, OPERATIONS DIRECTOR: "We see all those glass surfaces around us which blur the borders between the inside and the outside, between the natural and the built environment. We can particularly feel this in the concert hall where we feel both inside and outside at the same time, and we can listen to a concert where the natural surroundings are not closed off."

The building is part of the ruling nationalist government's push

to transform Budapest's City Park to showcase Hungarian culture

The project has been dogged by political controversy

due to hefty costs and the loss of some green areas
