Glastonbury, Enfield advance in CCC boys volleyball tournament

May 26—Eric Rose showed off both his offensive and defensive abilities for the Glastonbury High boys volleyball team Wednesday night.

Rose had 23 kills and five blocks to lead the top-seeded and host Guardians past the No. 8 Simsbury 3-1 in the CCC tournament quarterfinals. Game scores were 22-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-19

Glastonbury (19-0) will play No. 4 Southington in the semifinals today. Simsbury is 11-10.

Shawn Kaufhold had 13 kills, three aces and two digs in the win. Paul Giliberto contributed 40 assists and 13 digs.

ENFIELD 3, NEW BRITAIN 0. Drew Rancourt tallied 15 kills, three aces, a block and four digs to lead the second-seeded and host Eagles to a 3-0 sweep of No. 7 New Britain in the quarterfinals of the CCC tournament. Game scores were 25-18, 28-26 and 25-20.

Enfield (16-3) will host No. 3 Farmington in the semifinals today.

Fritz-Carly Andre added 10 kills and a block for the Eagles. John Bellafronte chipped in 11 kills and a block. Lexis Sanchez (14 kills) and Davin Siharath (31 assists) played well for New Britain (13-8).
