Glastonbury girls win Wickham Cross Country team title

Rachel St. Germain, a senior from Somers, won the large school race at the Wickham Invitational cross country meet Saturday at Wickham Park in 18:16 and Glastonbury, led by freshman Brooke Strauss’ third-place finish, won the girls large school title with 81 points.

Strauss finished in 19:06, one second behind Meg Madison of The Winsor School (Mass.).

Newington senior Michael Bohlke won the boys large school race in 15:54. North Kingstown (R.I.) won the team title (86 points) and Hall was second (104).

Gavin and his brother, Callum Sherry, of Conard did not run because they were recovering from being sick, as was Manchester’s Aidan Puffer.

Avon won the medium school boys title, with Jack Martin (second, 16:19) and Carver Morgan (fourth, 16:41) in the top five. In the small school division, Hale-Ray won the boys title and Bolton was the girls champion.
