Jul. 12—GLASTONBURY — The town has established a small business assistance program to provide limited, one-time financial support to small businesses and nonprofits that have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, Glastonbury-based organizations that meet program eligibility requirements can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to help them sustain and grow their business in the current marketplace.

Applicants must demonstrate that their organization has been adversely affected by the pandemic and that operating funds are necessary and sufficient, when combined with other sources, to sustain or grow their organization. The applicant must also present a reasonable likelihood for long-term viability.

Eligible use of funds includes payroll, mortgage/rent assistance, capital improvements, relocation/expansion, worker protection expenditures, compliance with public health measures, and other such expenses.

All applications must be submitted electronically. The deadline for applications is Aug. 14, though the application period may be extended as remaining funds allow.
