‘We need to get to Glastonbury, not joking’: Wolf Alice’s plea as BA flight cancelled

A band faces a race against time to reach the UK after their flight was cancelled less than 48 hours before their Glastonbury appearance.

British indie band Wolf Alice issued a plea for a private jet after their British Airways flight from Los Angeles to Heathrow on Wednesday night was cancelled.

"We need to get to Glastonbury, not joking", the band tweeted.

Wolf Alice had been in the US playing a series of concerts, including a gig alongside US singer Halsey at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

They are due to play a 4.45pm set at the festival's main Pyramid Stage on Friday, leaving them little time to make the 10-hour flight and complete the almost three-hour drive to the Somerset festival.

But there may be hope for fans of the band hoping to see them play after they posted a short video on their Instagram page on Thursday evening appearing to show them at a check-in desk at Los Angeles airport.

It came as 700 British Airways workers at the airport, mostly check-in staff, voted to strike this summer over pay cuts.

A spokesman for American Airlines, which runs transatlantic flights alongside British Airways said: "On June 22, American Airlines flight 134 from LAX to LHR was cancelled. We apologise for the inconvenience as we never want to disrupt our customer's travel plans.

"Those booked on yesterday's flight were provided meal and hotel vouchers, and have been accommodated on alternate flights."
