Glastonbury Restaurant Among 100 Most Romantic In America: Study

GLASTONBURY, CT — If you're in search of a place to spend a night out this Valentine's Day, look no further — a Glastonbury restaurant has been named one of the most romantic restaurants in the country.

Restaurant reservation company OpenTable analyzed more than 12.4 million diner reviews to come up with a list of the 100 most romantic restaurants in the country, and Glastonbury's J. Gilbert's Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood is among them.

OpenTable describes the steakhouse as "upscale casual," and said it serves beef cooked over a mesquite wood-fired grill, as well as seafood and more.

"The cozy atmosphere includes fire side dining, rich wood, brick & soft lighting where you can enjoy dinner for two or host a large party," OpenTable's description reads. "The extensive martini & wine list offers the perfect compliment to an excellent meal delivered with attentive service."

J. Gilbert's has a 4.8-star rating on OpenTable, and most entrees range in price from $31-$50, according to the company.

The steakhouse is the only Connecticut restaurant to make the cut. Other New England restaurants included are Hemenway's and Los Andes Restaurant, both in Providence, Rhode Island; Mamma Maria in Boston; and Simon Pearce Restaurant in Quechee, Vermont.

OpenTable compiled its list ahead of Valentine's Day next week, when restaurants will likely see a resurgence of couples dining out after two years of lower numbers because of the COVID-19 pandemic, officials said.

"Our data suggests that Valentine's Day dining is rebounding this year, with reservations up 30% nationwide compared to last year," said Susan Lee, Chief Growth Officer at OpenTable. "We're excited to see this momentum leading up to what has traditionally been one of the biggest dining days of the year for restaurants."
