Gleaner Life Insurance Society, employees donate $54,318 to local nonprofit groups

ADRIAN — Donations totaling $54,318 to local nonprofit groups were recently presented from Gleaner Life Insurance Society to the Lenawee Community Foundation.

The donations, a news release from Gleaner said, came through the Gleaner Gives campaign in which Gleaner employees each made contributions that were matched up to $1,000 by Gleaner Life. The Gleaner Gives program works in conjunction with the Lenawee Community Foundation’s Lenawee Cares campaign.

A total of 24 nonprofit organizations were helped through the Gleaner donations.

The largest contribution to a single group was $9,452 to the Lenawee Humane Society, according to the release. That contribution was followed by $6,146 to Neighbors of Hope, $5,526 to The Daily Bread of Lenawee, and $3,922 to Share the Warmth of Lenawee.

Other groups employees chose to assist with their contributions and donations included the Adrian Community Preschool, Adrian Rea Literacy Center, Associated Charities, Boys & Girls Club of Lenawee, Boy Scouts, Catherine Cobb Safe House, Catholic Charities, Daybreak Adult Day Services, Department on Aging, Goodwill Industries of Southeast Michigan, Habitat for Humanity, HOPE Community Center, Hospice of Lenawee, Housing Help of Lenawee, Jasmynn’s Voice, Joseph Widberg Fund for Veterans, Salvation Army, St. Mary’s Food Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St. Joseph Church and the Frank and Shirley Dick Family YMCA.

Founded in 1894, Gleaner Life Insurance Society is nonprofit fraternal benefit society that provides volunteer opportunities and supports outreach programs.
