ADRIAN — Gleaner Life Insurance Society will again help Lenawee County residents honor Flag Day by exchanging worn and weathered American flags on Flag Day, June 14.
The event is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the organization's home office at 5200 W. U.S. 223 in Adrian, according to a news release from Gleaner Life.
Lenawee County residents are welcome to exchange one old flag per person for one new flag. To help obtain enough flags with grommets and pole sleeves, people seeking a flag must register online at gleanerlife.org/flagexchange. The registration deadline is June 7.
The exchange is free, but offerings will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit Housing Help of Lenawee. Housing Help's services include help for veterans and their families such as housing assistance, case management, the Veterans Dire Need Fund and the Veterans Closet. Donations will be matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis by Gleaner Life.
