Glencoe Fire Department collecting toys for delivery to tornado-affected Kentucky

·1 min read

The Glencoe Fire Department is collecting new, unwrapped toys, games, books, technology or gift cards for the families affected by the devastating tornadoes that hit Kentucky last weekend.

Donations may be dropped off at the Glencoe Public Safety Building from now until about 10 a.m. Saturday morning, Chief Richard Johnson said. He said they plan to pull out, heading for Kentucky at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Johnson said some in the fire department were talking about toys left over from its toy drive for local children. When they saw the first lady of Kentucky's appeal for toy donations, he said they decided that's where their excess toys needed to go.

All items should be new, unwrapped and in the original packaging, suitable for ages infant to teens, or VISA or MasterCard gift cards ($25).

No clothes are needed.
