Glencoe police contract to update policies, training

The City of Glencoe is the latest local governing body to contract with Lexipol L.L.C. to update its' police policies and training.

Based in Frisco, Texas, the company provides policy and training solutions for public safety agencies and local governments, according to a news release from Glencoe.

City leaders say they've engaged Lexipol specifically for the purpose of providing its services to the police department.

“We became aware early in this administration that the police department’s policies and procedures that were previously in place were sorely inadequate to deal with the issues faced by modern police departments,” said Mayor Chris Hare.

Hare said his and the council's determination to modernize the management and oversight of the police department led to a thorough examination of the options available to address those issues.

Glencoe joins the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and numerous local municipalities now utilizing Lexipol’s services.

This relationship will allow Glencoe police to replace antiquated policies and procedures with the up-to-date and cutting-edge resources utilized by law enforcement agencies nationwide to better serve residents, according to city officials.
