‘Bounty hunter’ suspect arrested in Glendale, accused of counterfeiting

DENVER (KDVR) — A man accused of posing as a “bounty hunter” and using counterfeit money at Arvada businesses was captured by Glendale police last week, according to the Arvada Police Department.

Police released pictures of the suspect on Jan. 19 and garnered numerous tips from other law enforcement agencies and members of the public. Through those tips, Arvada police identified the man as 61-year-old Joseph Galbreath.

Police search for man dressed as ‘bounty hunter’ using counterfeit money

On Jan. 31, detectives served a search warrant on Galbreath’s Lakewood home and reportedly seized counterfeit money and the equipment to make it. Detectives then got an arrest warrant for Galbreath for 11 felony charges and one misdemeanor, namely:

  • 10 counts of forgery of money/stamps/government security

  • One count of possession of a forged instrument

  • One count of theft of $300-1,000, a misdemeanor

Glendale police arrested Galbreath on Feb. 20, according to Arvada PD.

Galbreath is scheduled to appear in Jefferson County Court on April 1 and was released from custody on a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
