Glenford man charged after allegedly chasing girlfriend with a vehicle in Licking County

A Glenford man has been charged with a felony after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in Licking County on Thursday.

Thomas E. Clark, 41, of Glenford, was arrested and charged with one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony, in Licking County on Friday.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Licking County Common Pleas Court, the Licking County Sheriff's Office was called to the area of Boundaries and Jacksontown Roads in Glenford for the report of a possible assault. The agency said multiple 911 callers reported witnessing a woman "running away from a vehicle that was driving through the field chasing her."

On the scene, deputies reported finding a vehicle damaged with blood on the hood, and a bloody comforter nearby which matched a pillowcase inside the vehicle. The agency said tire tracks in the area were consistent with the 911 calls.

In a search of the vehicle, deputies said they located a wallet and tax return belonging to a woman, later identified as the victim. After making contact with her mother, the agency said the mother said her daughter was with her boyfriend, Clark. She also allegedly confirmed Clark drove a Honda Pilot, which deputies saw on nearby video surveillance being driven through the field.

After executing a search warrant at Clark's home, deputies said they found Clark and the victim at the home.

"During a search, bloody clothes sprayed with cleaner were found in the washing machine. (The victim) had a fresh gash on the top right of her head and stated the blood found on the comforter and vehicles was hers," the complaint stated.

Deputies reported collecting bloody clothing worn by the victim which they say is identical to clothing described by 911 callers. They also observed suspected blood from the victim on Clark's arm.

A grand jury will review the case for possible indictment and possible additional charges. If convicted, Clark faces up to eight years in prison and up to a $15,000 fine.

Clark is currently being held in the Licking County Justice Center.

The Licking County Sheriff's Office in a Facebook post on Friday asked anyone who witnessed an incident in the area of Ohio 13 and Boundaries Road on Thursday morning around 6 a.m. to call Det. Shenan Day at 740-670-5533 or Sgt. Gus Moore at 740-670-5564.
