Austin is rarely a snowy wonderland this time of year, but there's no shortage of winter adventures around these parts. If you have some ice skates stored away in your closet, brush off the dust, sharpen your blades and join in on the fun.

Ice Rink at the Long Center

Skate under Christmas lights and with a view of the Austin skyline at the Ice Rink at the Long Center. Through Jan. 1, folks can enjoy some seasonal fun at the performing arts venue. Along with a few twirls around the rink, guests can cozy up with hot cocoa, holiday cookies, popcorn and hot toddies. Tickets are $15, which includes a skate rental and one hour on the ice. (701 W. Ice Rodeo at the Four Seasons

Overlooking Lady Bird Lake, the Four Seasons Hotel Austin is home to Ice Rodeo. The outdoor rink is open through Jan. 8, and features firepits and private "cabins" where guests can gather for food and holiday-themed drinks. Tickets for admission and skate rentals start at $35. Chaparral Ice Center

This family-owned ice rink has it all year round: hockey and figure skating lessons, party packages and moments for the public to enjoy the thrill of the ice. Admission into the Chaparral Ice Center, located at Northcross Plaza, is $12 with a $6 skate rental fee for children and adults. (2525 W Anderson Lane, Suite 400; chaparralice.com)

Ice & Field at The Crossover (Cedar Park)

Ice & Field at The Crossover is open year-round for guests of all ages to coast and glide around the rink. Other entertainment, wellness and dining options also are available. Entry is $12 for visitors with skates and $18 for guests who need to rent skates. Each ticket is for a two-hour skating session and can be purchased in person. Winter Ice Skating Rink (Marble Falls)

Now located near Harmony Park in Downtown Marble Falls, the Winter Ice Skating Rink is a fun add-on to the annual Walkway of Lights Christmas celebration, and an experience that's available through the end of the year. To ensure your spot on the ice, purchase tickets in advance. Entry starts at $10 in advance and $12 for day-of tickets. (305 Buena Vista Drive, Marble Falls; marblefallsrecreation.com)

Eisbahn (Fredericksburg)

The annual ice skating affair returns to Downtown Fredericksburg. Eisbahn, which means ice rink in German,  is offering all-day passes for $15, $10 on Tuesdays, that include skate rentals. A portion of the proceeds from Eisbahn will be donated to two local charities and contributes to needs-based tuition assistance for qualifying families at Heritage School. (126 W.
