The Bears (14-4-2) will travel to top-seeded Belchertown (15-1-4) at 2 p.m. on Saturday for the Div. 3 Elite 8. Belchertown, which won the 2019 Div. 3 state title, beat Dover-Sherborn 1-0 in Wednesday’s Round of 16.

“They were very happy,” Almeida said of the Bulldogs advancing. “They’ve put in a lot of hard work. They were really excited and happy for each other.”

Almeida said he isn’t surprised with his team’s success in his first full season at the helm after taking over before the shortened Fall 2 campaign in the spring.

“It's the fact that guys have bought into the system of play,” he said. “They’ve bought into an all-for-one mentality. They enjoy each other and they’re having fun. It’s a special season.”
