Walsh Jesuit 2, Strongsville 2

It was a Wednesday evening game between last season’s regional finalist Mustangs (0-0-1) and the Division I runner-up Warriors (0-1-1) and it had all the feel of a late October postseason game.

Andjelina Janjetovic gave Strongsville a 1-0 lead at the break, but a recharged Walsh squad came out with fervor after the recess.

Reagan Pentz scored the equalizer for the Warriors when keeper Abby Kudla came out to stop a shot by Kayla Flory from 30 yards out. Pentz followed the initial stop and kicked it into an empty net with 35:58 left.

The tie was short-lived, as Haley Feiler took a pass from Leah Snell on the right side and beat Gabrielle Huryn to the left corner for Strongsville with 24:10 remaining.

The Warriors finished the scoring after a handball was called in the box with 3:30 left. Hannah Pachan took the penalty kick.

Kudla guessed right. Pachan went left.

“This is a tournament game,” Walsh coach Javier Iriart said. “We said it before the game. We said it halftime. When you get in these moments, you have to appreciate it for what it actually is. It is a tournament game. It’s a team that you know is go to the regional finals, the regional semifinals. You have to play to that level.”
