“Tonight we learned a lot about ourselves in our first game of the season,” White Pigeon head coach Brooke McClure said following the contest. “We are young and are trying to figure out how to flow together.”

Gobles had already played a game this season, beating Lawrence on Tuesday to open the season 48-39. In Wednesday’s game, Gobles looked like a team that had already played in a contest.

White Pigeon was doing its best to move the basketball and get good shots up, but struggled to connect at the hoop.

Gobles out-scored White Pigeon 12-6 in the opening quarter. Gobles would add another double digit performance to the total in the second with an 11-5 advantage. This put the Tigers up 23-11 at halftime.

“We played too tentative the first half, but played more aggressive in the second,” McClure said. “I am really proud of their effort.”

The third quarter proved to be a big one for Gobles. The Tigers scored 21 points, the most by either team in any quarter for the game. White Pigeon posted nine points in the stanza, but found itself trailing 44-20 entering the final eight minutes of play.
