Seneca and Corry students win GoErie's Male, Female and Football Athlete of the Week polls

Athletes from two Erie County schools boasted the top vote-getters for this week's GoErie.com Erie County Athlete of the Week polls.

Seneca football player Nolan Seabury and soccer player Liam Pikiewicz (male athlete), plus Corry volleyball player Aubrey Chase (female athlete), were the winners for online voting that ran from Monday at 5 p.m. through Wednesday at 5 p.m.

There were nearly 4,000 votes cast over the three polls.

Football Player of the Week

Nolan Seabury, Seneca: He accounted for six of the Bobcats' touchdowns during their 67-0 rout of Iroquois at Bob Diffenbacher Field.

Seabury received 289 votes (24.49%) of the 1,180 votes. That was 17 more than another Nolan, Corry's Nolan Carey.

Male Athlete of the Week

Liam Pikiewicz, Seneca soccer: He accounted for all of the offense when the Bobcats blanked Iroquois 2-0.

Pikiewicz's 231 votes (20.30%) were 60 more than General McLane soccer player Gio Masone and 64 more than Union City golf star Josh James. There were 1,138 total votes.

Female Athlete of the Week

Aubrey Chase, Corry volleyball: Her 12 kills were the most for the Beavers when they swept Seneca 25-14, 25-23, 26-24.

Chase won the week's closest poll. She received 249 votes (15.46%) to the 238 for Seneca soccer player Mallory Hammill. There were 1,611 total votes cast.

How it works

Each Monday, the Erie Times-News will select nominees for the Erie County Football Player of the Week, Male Athlete of the Week and Female Athlete of the Week. The Male Athlete of the Week poll encompass all sports except football.

Polls are posted Monday at 5 p.m. and voters have through Wednesday at 5 p.m. to vote. Votes are limited to one per IP address or computer network.

The winners will be featured on GoErie.com each week. They will not be eligible for any polls held through the remainder of the PIAA's fall sports season.
