GREEN BAY - Light snow Friday night and Saturday morning could make for tricky travel to Lambeau Field, but it is expected to clear out in time for Saturday night's Green Bay Packers-San Francisco 49ers playoff game.

Parts of northeastern Wisconsin could see about an inch of snow Saturday morning. A bigger concern for Packers and 49ers fans will be the cold temperatures and wind chill, said Tasos Kallas, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

"The snow will be long gone (by kickoff)," Kallas said. "The issue is going to be the temperatures, which everyone knows about. Packers fans are hearty. They know how to dress."

Early forecasts for Saturday projected temperatures below zero, which would rival some of the coldest games in NFL history. Kallas said updated data suggests it won't quite get that cold.

High daytime temperatures in the 20s will drop into the teens at kickoff and settle in around 5 degrees around the end of the game. Kallas said a west wind of 10 mph will make it feel like 10 below zero.

"It's going to be cold. There's no doubt about it," Kallas said.

The National Weather Service forecast for Green Bay on Saturday includes a chance of light snow and highs in the lower 20s. Temperatures are expected to drop into single-digits for the Green Bay Packers-San Francisco 49ers playoff game.

In such conditions, frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes, and fans need to be prepared.

"Bring the hat, gloves, scarf. Protect your skin," Kallas said. "Bring the handwarmers and footwarmers and blankets."
