MEMORIAL DAY

Veterans Park: The Field of Flags will be on display in Veterans Park from May 26 to 31. The garden of 12,301 flags are placed in honor of the Wisconsin service members who gave their life during the Civil War, and celebrates all Medal of Honor recipients. A closing ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. May 28. North of the War Memorial Center, 1010 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive.

Forest Home Cemetery & Arboretum: Memorial Day service and celebration, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 30. Landmark Chapel service and wreath-laying in Garden of Honor at 11 a.m., followed by reenactor portrayals of notable Milwaukeeans, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and guided walking tours from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. of the cemetery and arboretum. 2405 W. Calvary Cemetery: Memorial Day Mass and Service, 10 a.m. May 30. Auxiliary Bishop James T. Schuerman will celebrate Mass at Calvary Cemetery, followed by a Civil War Memorial Day Observance by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and Auxiliary.The day includes cannon firing, musket salutes, Civil War music, a procession to the graves of Union Soldiers, a message from Daniel Buttery of the War Memorial Center, and a special address by Abraham Lincoln. 5503 W.
