Next week's Memorial Tournament is following the PGA Tour's lead and taking a "lost ball" approach to COVID-19. The pandemic has not gone poof — it remains out there — but the game must move along.

After two years of focusing on pandemic safety protocols, the June 2-5 Memorial is getting back to normal, which is to say full crowds, fans being able to physically interact with players — autographs and fist bumps! — and no face coverings required.

Attendance will not be limited and social distancing is optional for "Jack Nicklaus' tournament" at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, which has switched presenting sponsors from Nationwide to Workday.

One change remains: all onsite merchandise and concession locations will continue to operate as cashless. All major credit cards are accepted.

“The Memorial Tournament is thrilled to welcome back the full fan experience for our patrons at this year's tournament,” Memorial executive director Dan Sullivan said. “Every event that we had to postpone last year because of the inability to bring people together will be back, big and small, and we’re pretty excited about it.”

Full-week tournament badges will be available for purchase at two Memorial Tournament entrance gates: main and No. 6 tee, from Monday to Sunday. Practice round tickets can be purchased at the same locations from Monday, to Wednesday.

Spectators can bring up to two ounces of hand sanitizer — sanitizing stations have been removed from the course — but larger items should be left in vehicles. Unlike the past two years, banned items like backpacks cannot be checked at the gate and collected later. See thememorialtournament.com for a list of prohibited items.

The Wednesday pro-am returns (celebrity participants TBA) and Memorial honorees Ben Crenshaw and Charlie Sifford (posthumous) will be honored at 2 p.m. Wednesday off the 18th green.
