Going to the Newport Folk or Jazz festival? Here are ways to get to Fort Adams State Park

NEWPORT — Visitors to the Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals this year can get to Fort Adams State Park by bike, convenient harbor shuttles or by car.

The most economical way is the bicycle and a lot of people opted for this choice during the most recent festivals in 2019.

“The most bike riders we had on one day was 1,800,” said Bari Freeman, executive director of Bike Newport, which oversees the bike parking area in front of the fort, as close to the entrance as you can get with any means of transportation.

The acclaimed Newport Folk Festival returns to Fort Adams State Park from July 22-24. The Newport Jazz Festival will be in the same location from July 29-31.
