Going to the Texas Rangers victory parade Friday? Here’s what to know about getting there

When North Texans descend into Arlington Friday to help celebrate the Texas Rangers’ World Series win, an abundance of patience will be needed. Some roads will be closed and public transportation to the parade location is spotty.

The good news is that the weather will be favorable: temperatures will be in the mid 70s with a slight breeze of 10-15 mph.

A 5-0 win Wednesday sent the Rangers into baseball immortality as they defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks in the World Series four games to one. The win is Texas’ first World Series title in franchise history.

The nearly two-mile long Rangers parade on Friday will kickoff at 12:15 p.m. and run from Cowboys Way near Lot A and make its way up AT&T Way, then turns east on Road to Six Flags before finishing at Globe Life Field off Stadium Drive.

Tips from Arlington Police on getting to Texas Rangers victory parade

As fans prepare for the parade, the Arlington Police Department has a few tips for those attending.

The amount of people anticipated at the parade tomorrow has been described as having two Cowboys and four Rangers games happening simultaneously, said Tim Ciesco, media relations coordinator with Arlington PD.

“We’re looking at hundreds of thousands of people,” Ciesco said.

For fans attending the parade, Arlington Police has laid out these tips:

  • Arrive early — Some of the roadways around the parade route will be blocked off as early as 10 a.m. Friday.

  • Be patient — The multitude of people at the parade will be enormous and being patient with one another can go a long way.

  • Expect heavy police presence — Along with Arlington PD, other law enforcement agencies such as Grand Prairie PD, Texas DPS and the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office will be at the parade.

  • Be respectful — Have fun at the parade but do not disturb everybody else’s experience. Fans are going to be packed tight along the parade route.

Where to find restrooms, concession stands

Public restrooms can be accessed through the north and west entrances of Choctaw Stadium, according to the city of Arlington. Concessions will also be available at these entrances.
