It's a golden night for Marquette on Twitter as national media highlights Eagles after winning Big East title
Marquette was picked to finish ninth in the Big East before the season started.
They were a 40-1 shot to win the league crown.
Time to pay up.
The Golden Eagles took care of business Tuesday night in Indianapolis with a dominant 72-56 victory at Hinkle Fieldhouse for their first outright Big East regular season championship. It was the school's fifth conference title.
After clinching the No. 1 seed at next week's Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden, there were plenty of accolades for the league champs floating around Twitter including praise from some national college basketball media personalities.

Why is Shaka Smart deserving of national coach of the year? Well...he's coached. He didn't reel in some program-changing recruit or transfer in the offseason. Marquette's success has come from player development and guys buying into their roles. Yes, it still works in 2023 CBB.

Unbelievable achievement for Marquette to get picked in the preseason to finish ninth in the Big East, and tonight they clinched the outright regular season crown. Shaka and his squad really woke up the space this season. And they're not done yet!
