Golf Galaxy swings into action at relocated Montrose store

A move of a little more than half a mile has meant more space and more features for Golf Galaxy.

The golf equipment and apparel store recently completed its move from its former location on Medina Road to 37 N. Cleveland-Massillon Road in Montrose, the site of the former OfficeMax.

"We are billing it as Akron's No. 1 golf destination," said Nick Cipkus, the community marketing manager for Northeast Ohio. "This is a new and improved level for golfers of all ages and skill levels."

The new location features four TrackMan golf simulator bays. Brandon Marks, the store manager, said there were many benefits to having the TrackMan bays in the store.

"They have created a lot of buzz in the community," Marks said. "Having this allows us to have the absolute best fitting data to fit our golfers."

According to information from the company, these simulators also can be rented.

The store also has a small putting green with several holes, Cipkus said.

If a golfer is trying out a prospective club, and it's not quite the right length or fit, the store can perform alterations in-house, Marks said.

Other services include lessons, club repair, a club trade-in program and a listing of pre-owned golf clubs for purchase.

Golf Galaxy opened its first store in 1997, and its headquarters is in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. Other Northeast Ohio locations include North Olmsted and Belden Village Mall in Jackson Township.
