Golf roundup: Minnewaska/BBE girls 8th at stacked meet

May 9—ALEXANDRIA — With five ranked teams in the field, the Minnewaska/Belgrade-Brooten-Elorsa girls golf team took eighth at the Geneva Invitational Saturday at Geneva Golf Course.

Playing without some of its top golfers, the Blue Jackets finished Saturday with a score of 379. Minnewaska/BBE is ranked 25th in the state.

No. 1-ranked Alexandria won with a score of 329, beating 11th-ranked Maple Grove's 339. St. Michael-Albertville (24th) finished fourth with 362 while Edina (third) was sixth with 367.

The Blue Jackets' top golfer was Annika DeBoer, who tied for 18th with an 18-hole score of 91.

Alexandria's Hannah Boraas took medalist honors after carding a 75. She beat St. Michael-Albertville's Ellie Breuer, who had a 77.

St. Peter beat Marshall by five strokes to win the Fairmont Invitational at Rose Lake Golf Club in Fairmont.

The Saints wrapped up their round with 325, followed by the Tigers with 330.

Minnewaska was sixth with 350. Riley Larson paced the Lakers with an 82, finishing in a tie for 10th.

Luverne's Henry Hartquist and Marshall's Luke Ehlers tied for medalist honors with both shooting 75s.
