Golf roundup: NLS Wildcats are sitting pretty after Day 1 of the section tournament

May 27—BUFFALO LAKE — The New London-Spicer boys golf team is in first place by six strokes after the first day of the Section 3AA Tournament on Thursday at Oakdale Golf Club.

NLS shot a 311 to take a six-stroke lead over second-place Minnewaska. Marshall shot a 322 to be in third place.

The Wildcats' Peyton Coahran and Morris/Chokio-Alberta's Charlie Hanson are tied for first place with 75s. NLS' Noah Dietz shot a 76 to be tied for third and Minnewaska's Riley Larson and Litchfield's Sam Tipka each shot 77s to tie for fifth.

Day 2 of the two-day tournament begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Oakdale Golf Club. At stake are berths into the state Class AA tournament in Jordan.
