BUFFALO LAKE — The Worthington Trojans boys golf team's season has been full of up and down matches. But all that could change after the next 18 holes at the Section 3AA boys golf tournament on Thursday.

The Trojans are a dark horse in the meet — with all six varsity members available and eager to play a spectacular round of golf.

WHS junior Andrew Mulder has been playing with a lot of confidence in his swing lately. He was named the medalist at last Friday's meet with Murray County Central.

Logan Powers is also playing some strong golf after reworking his drive and recouped an up and down start to the season.

WHS senior Tyler Jaycox has been consistent for WHS all season, and that consistency has been instrumental in close Big South Conference matches.

Spenser Nickel, Spenser Braaksma and Wesley Widboom have all been in the hunt for the final scoring position for WHS this season.

A strong match from any could help push WHS to a second-day appearance as a team.

The Section 3AA boys golf meet will begin at 9 a.m. at the Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake. The top five teams advance to day two next Wednesday, May 31.

The top five teams and a total of 44 golfers advance to the second round.
