Golf season comes to an end for local teams

The prep golf season has come to an end for all local teams.

The Sturgis golf team finished seventh overall at the Division 2, Region 9 tournament held at Stonehedge North Golf Course in Gull Lake. The Trojans shot a team score of 346 on the day.

Finishing first in that regional was Gull Lake at 314, Mattawan was second at 322 and Vicksburg was third with a 330. All three teams qualified for the state finals. Qualifying as individuals for the state finals were Harrison Chapman of Marshall with a 73 and both Macob Marohn of Stevensville-Lakeshore and Collin McLane of Marshall with 77.

Sturgis was led by Hayden Goodman, he shot an 81. Austin Sanford fired an 83 while Graeme Herald added an 88, Luc VanderHulst shot 94 and Charles Frost added a 101.

Three Rivers shot a 374 for 16th. Garron Gahan fired a round of 80 on the day.

Caleb Quake and Phillip Wellman each shot a 95. Nick Melville added a 104 and Isaac Adams added a round of 106.

Both Bronson and Constantine ended their seasons at the Division 3, Region 15 tournament held at Beeches Golf Club in South Haven.

Finishing first in that regional was Coloma with a 364. Schoolcraft shot a team score of 365 and Olivet added a round of 370 as all three teams qualified for the state finals. Qualifying as individuals for the state finals were Sam Sawyer of Quincy at 76 and Parker Lanning of Watervliet with an 87.

Constantine shot a 458. Hunter Smith led the way with a 102, Michael Watrous added a round of 113 and Logan Patmalnieks added a 114. Tyler Miller shot a round of 129 on the day.

Bronson shot a team score of 491. Brayden Ransbottom shot a round of 99 on the day. Carson Norton added a round of 112, Desmond Osborne added a 128 and Mathew Blankenship fired a round of 152.

Several teams had their seasons come to an end at Klinger Lake Country Club on Wednesday.

The country club hosted the Division 4, Region 21 tournament. Grandville Calvin Christian won the tournament with a round of 335 followed by Kalamazoo Hackett with 351 and Kalamazoo Christian with 353. All three qualified for the state finals. Qualifying as individuals were Hezekiah Nobel of Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian with a 79, Elijah Janowiak of Saugatuck with an 88 and Owen Rosendall of Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian with an 89.

White Pigeon shot a team score of 426 for eighth place. Luke Gropp led the way with a 95, Owen Keo shot a 98. Cole Jackson fired a round of 115, Isaiah Ryall added a 118 and Jezz Ryall shot 121.

Howardsville Christian shot a team score of 426 for eighth place as well. Lukas Krueger led with a 97, Will Boyer added a round of 106. Nathan Jergens fired a round of 110, Carter Grandlinard added a 113 and Caleb Schwartz fired a 165.

Colon placed 10th with a 432. The Magi were led by Simon Vinson with a 102. Justin Wickey fired a round of 104, Kaleb Johnson added a 110 and Josh West fired a 116. Tucker Lafler shot a round of 144.

Centreville fired a team score of 477. The Bulldogs were led by Felix Suchert with a 101. Landon Bingaman added a round of 105 and Caleb Schwartz shot 127. Nathan Hartong carded a 144, Braxton Schrock ended his round with a 169.

Marcellus had a team score of 486 for 16th place. Jack Lamoreaux fired a round of 111 to lead the Wildcats. Chris Andrews fired a 117 and Mindy Boyer shot a 127. Lucas Wantowski shot a 131, Hunter Hurley added a 151.

Burr Oak totaled a team score of 527 for 17th. The Bobcats got a round of 93 from Flavio Hernandez. Ethan Lindsey shot a 127 and Austin Cole added a 142. Branson Hernandez shot a round of 165.
