Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, in a press conference just hours before Game 4 of the NBA Playoffs series against the Dallas Mavericks pleaded with lawmakers to pass gun control legislation.

"I'm not gonna talk about basketball," said an impassioned Kerr. "Any basketball questions don't matter."

For nearly three minutes, Kerr gave an emotional speech on gun control, where he hit the table, raised his voice and at times, sounded close to tears.

The NBA playoffs series Kerr's Golden State Warriors are playing in is currently in Dallas, about 350 miles from Uvalde, where at least 18 children and two adults are dead after a shooting at an elementary school on Tuesday.

Kerr also cited other recent mass shooting including a church in California and a grocery store in Buffalo, New York. Both happened last week.

Just before Kerr's speech, Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd also said he couldn't talk about basketball at the time, and left the press conference.
