Gonzales, Norris lead medalists for NMS XC teams

Aug. 31—ATTICA — The Norwalk Middle School boys cross country team placed third overall out of 10 teams on Aug. 27 at the Seneca East Tiger Classic.

The NMS girls team finished sixth out of 10 teams.

In the boys race, Kingston Gonzales (11:57) was sixth overall for the Truckers, which earned a spot on the podium. Other award winners included Caiden Schmidt (13:03.5) in 23rd and Roman Snyder (13:10.9) in 25th.

Nolan Jones was 40th (13:27.7) and Adam Slate (13:48.7) was 51st, while Derion Johnson (14:16.1) was 66th and Xavier Saunders (14:42.7) was 79th.

Also running for Norwalk was Aiden Mock (86th, 15:30.2), Caleb Thompson (110th, 17:08.6), Logan Corbin (118th, 17:56.9), Joel Henderson (126th, 18:56.7), Connor Lucas (134th, 19:31) and Canyon Craig (135th, 19:41).

In the girls race, Grace Norris also reached the podium by placing eighth overall in 13:58.6. Adyson Lepley was 23rd in 15:06.1 to also earn an award. They were followed by Anna Whaley (15:51.6) in 44th, Kylah Daniels (16:45.3) in 55th, Lily Ware (16:57.5) in 62nd, Piper Rupp (17:40.9) in 72nd and Ivy Nardecchia (17:51.3) in 76th.

Rounding out the Norwalk lineup at the event was Gretchen Miller (76th, 17:57), Skyler Ervin (106th, 20:59.1), Madeline Clark (108th, 21:24.5) and Erica Foster (120th, 26:17.3).
