Gonzalez, Freeman lead Columbus Clippers to sixth straight win with sweep of St. Paul

The Clippers take on the St. Paul Saints earlier this season.

Sundays' games: Clippers 5, Saints 3; Clippers 5, Saints 4

Recap: The Clippers swept St. Paul for their sixth straight win and moved to within a half game of first-place Nashville in the International League West. In the first game, Mitchell Tolman went 3 for 3 and Will Benson homered for a 5-3 victory. Columbus starter Konnor Pilkington allowed one run on five hits in four innings. In the second game, which was a makeup of Saturday's rainout, Oscar Gonzalez scored Alex Call with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth for the walk-off win. Call started the inning on second and moved to third on a throwing error by catcher David Banuelos on a pickoff attempt. Tyler Freeman's two-out homer in the bottom of the seventh sent it to extra innings. Freeman was the only Clipper with two hits. Gonzalez had three RBIs.
