Goo Goo Dolls to play Ames' Stephens Auditorium this October during the 'Chaos in Bloom' tour

Fans of ’90s and ’00s music, mark your calendars for October when the Goo Goo Dolls won't want you to miss their show.

The pop rock band will be coming through Ames' Stephens Auditorium — 1900 Center Drive -— this fall at 8 p.m. on Oct. 30 with tickets going on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.

Formed in the mid-’80s by John Rzeznik and Robby Takac, the Goo Goo Dolls have released a steady supply of music with songs such as "There You Are," "Name," "Iris" and "Better Days."

“We’re so excited to welcome Goo Goo Dolls to Ames on October 30,” said Fred Love, Stephens Auditorium's director of marketing and sales, in the Friday press release announcing the engagement. “Their songs are positively legendary, and they’ve attracted fans all over the world. We can’t wait for this world-class band to play on our world-class stage.”

The month before the Goo Goo Dolls come to Ames, eastern Iowa fans of the band can see them play in Cedar Rapids at 7 p.m. on Sept. 13 at McGrath Amphitheater, 475 First St. SW.

The Grammy-nominated band's latest album, "Chaos In Bloom" was released earlier this year and is the namesake for the band's current tour.

The band previously played central Iowa in 2014, appearing at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand, and returned in late 2019 to play Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines.

Whitehall, an indie-rock band hailing from Charleston, South Carolina, opens for the Goo Goo Dolls in Ames. The band released songs such as "Vacation Home" and "Good Guy." The group's latest album, titled "Swordfish Catcher," came out last year.

Tickets for the Ames show will be available at the Stephens Auditorium ticket office or online through ticketmaster.com. Prices range from $29.50 to $79.50.

Tickets to the Cedar Rapids show, also available through Ticketmaster, start at $35 per person.
