The Good Doctor star Osvaldo Benavides has been cast in a new series on Prime Video called Cada Minuto Cuenta.

The actor, who played Dr Mateo Rendon Osma on the medical series, will appear alongside Maya Zapata, Jesús Zavala and Antonio de la Vega in the upcoming disaster drama, which focuses on the 1985 Mexico City earthquake.

The tragedy caused the deaths of at least 5,000 people, and according to Deadline, the new series will look at the disaster through the perspectives of a doctor tied to his past, a journalist in search of fame and a family in crisis, as they all risk their lives to save themselves.

“We are sure that Jorge Michel Grau and Traziende Films are the perfect team to produce a series that honors the true stories that inspired us, illuminating hope and not just the tragedy that Mexican society suffered.”

Executive producer and CEO of Traziende Films Juan Manuel Borbolla added: “We are very excited to be able to tell this story hand-in-hand with Prime Video, using the latest virtual production technology that will allow us to show, in a unique way, the drama experienced by Mexicans during the earthquake.

"It is a profound and respectful narrative that honors the lives lost and saved.”

Cada Minuto Cuenta will stream on Prime Video in 2024. The Good Doctor airs on ABC in the US, and on Sky Witness and NOW in the UK.
