Florida A&M University’s homecoming will be featured on the national stage Friday and Saturday morning as the ABC News award-winning Good Morning America show will broadcast live from campus.

“The campus is absolutely gorgeous, and I have a very good feeling that GMA will have a wonderful experience for our segment here,” coordinating producer Danielle Librizzo said in a prepared statement after visiting the campus last week with her team in advance to scope out locations for its sets. The tour included the Will Packer Performing Arts Amphitheater and the Marching 100 practice field.

The production team settled on Bragg Memorial Stadium for Friday’s show anchored by TJ Holmes. The live broadcast starts at 6:30 a.m. and is open to the public.

  • Student entry will be at Gate 5 and all other spectators should enter at Gate 8. Both gates are at Bragg Stadium alongside Perry Street.

  • Those attending are urged to arrive between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., as gates to Bragg Stadium will close at 6:30 a.m.

  • FAMU is encouraging students to bring their “Rattler spirit”, with pompoms and signs and to wear orange and green. Political signs and attire are prohibited, and a clear bag policy will be enforced.

  • The event is free. Parking is available at the north side of the stadium.

The Saturday morning broadcast, starting at 6:30 a.m., will be anchored by Ike Ejiochi and Kumasi Aaron in front of the Center for Access and Success on Wahnish Way for the Homecoming Parade that starts at 8 a.m. The public is encouraged to arrive early to find available parking.

FAMU President Larry Robinson said the GMA broadcast will be an opportunity for FAMU to get continued national exposure. The university earlier this year was ranked the No. 1 public HBCU in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

“To allow the rest of the world to see some of the festivities, experience the rich culture, and hear about the accomplishments of our graduates and students at FAMU, it doesn’t get any better than that,” Robinson said in a prepared statement.

"I always think it's important for HBCUs to get the publicity and recognition we deserve," said Aliya Everett, who was elected Miss FAMU for 2022-2023. Everett wants viewers tuned into GMA during homecoming to know that "Black Excellence is alive and well at FAMU."

Last year’s FAMU homecoming included a live broadcast of ESPN First Take from the Will Packer Performing Arts Amphitheater with host Stephen A. Smith and moderator Molly Qerim Rose. They were joined by actor/comedian Kevin Hart and FAMU alum Will Packer.

GMA’s broadcast at FAMU is the second week in a row to include a visit to one of the country’s HBCUs.

Last weekend the GMA crew, including co-anchor Michael Strahan, hosted a live broadcast at Jackson State University’s homecoming at its Jackson, Mississippi campus.
