DYER AWARDS GOES TO LAKE WALES FOUNDATION

The Dyer Difference Award committee has chosen the Lake Wales Area Foundation for the May Dyer Difference Award and a check for $3,000. In 1989, community business leaders formed the nonprofit organization to assist with providing tax incentive for donors wanting to support the community through projects and charitable activities. Now part of the Chamber of Commerce, the group has helped to fund programs including Youth Leadership and Leadership Lake Wales, supported educational programs and activities and the Shining Star Award, which is distributed to local fifth grade students. Each month, members of the Dyer family and Dyer Kia and Dyer Chevrolet team meet to review the applications which have been submitted and select one non-profit organization to receive that month’s recognition and $3,000 award. To nominate a non-profit organization visit www.dyerdifference.org.
