GOOD NEWS: DAR CELEBRATES DAY OF SERVICE

The Ponce de Leon National Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held the October meeting at the Kings Pointe Clubhouse in Lake Alfred. Chapter Regent Chris Page presented a power point program on DAR 101 - You Joined the DAR — Now What? Constitution Week was Sept. 17-23. Page presented Andi Brannon with a certificate from the Florida State Society DAR in recognition of her work on the State Constitution Committee.

To celebrate the DAR National Day of Service, the chapter presented dozens of cookies to  Winter Haven firemen to thank them for their service. The chapter is participating in Project Patriot; the goal is to send 500 cards over a two-year period to veterans stationed overseas.

At the November meeting the chapter will have its annual “Cookies for the Troops.” Last year 204 tins of cookies were sent to the soldiers overseas. For additional information on the Ponce de Leon NSDAR, email pdl1916@aol.com.
