Oct. 31—Chief Michael Gerke, Capt. John Sikes, Sgt. Tommy Jones, and Cpl. Marshall Williams all recently attended Government and Public Safety Day hosted by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce and met with Leadership Odessa to give some insight into OPD.
They gave a tour of the new state-of-the-art training facility and showcased the advanced technology used to train and prepare officers for the field.
Gerke also spoke with the special group and answered any questions regarding the hiring process, tools used to fight crime in the community, and how the department functions and operates.
