Good News: A Granddad’s singalong creates a sweet long-distance bond with his grandson
Eighty-seven-year-old George Kerr from Renfrewshire, Scotland, is a devoted granddad to his only grandchild, Keiran. However, due to living 350 miles apart, they don't see each other in person very often. But that hasn't stopped them from forming a close bond.
13-year-old Keiran has autism, and his mom Andrea Kerr says he sometimes struggles to communicate. However, his granddad has found a way to reach him.
Watch the video to hear an adorable version of a holiday classic.
On their regular FaceTime calls, George often sings to Keiran. As Christmas approached, nurses at his care home even recorded a video of him crooning Bing Crosby's legendary song White Christmas. And George's rendition struck a chord with his grandson.
"They connect through George's singing," says Keiran's mom. "It's always really resonated with Keiran for some reason, and it helps him relax."
Since he got his granddad's Christmas video, Andrea says her son watches it every night.
"The video is his most prized possession because his grandad is pretty much his idol," she says. "He watches it and says, 'Night, night Grandad. Love you to the moon and back'."
