The Good Place's Jameela Jamil has hit back at trolls who called her a "miserable person" after she opened up about her abortion story.

The actress, who plays Tahani on the hit NBC comedy series, revealed back in May that she previously had an abortion and that it was the "best decision" she'd ever made.

“Both for me, and for the baby I didn’t want, and wasn’t ready for, emotionally, psychologically and financially. So many children will end up in foster homes. So many lives ruined. So very cruel,” she said.

The star has since received "thousands" of messages on social media from people criticising her for making a decision about her own body.

On Friday (December 6) she decided to fire back at the trolls on Twitter, writing: "Receiving THOUSANDS of messages about how I made a mistake having an abortion 7 years ago and how I must be a miserable person…

"I am in fact a happy, thriving multi-millionaire, madly in love, with free time, good sleep and a wonderful career and life. But thanks for checking."

That's them told.

The Good Place airs on NBC in the US, with episodes premiering a day later on Netflix. You can also catch it on E4 in the UK.
