  1. The owner of an assisted living center, Sara B. Nadeau of Lee, was named N.H.'s Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Nadeau, the owner of Carriage Hill Assisted Living, will be honored with other SBA award winners at the annual Small Business Week celebration that will be hosted by the SBA New Hampshire District Office and the NH Bankers Association at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford on May 12 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. (New Hampshire Business Review)

  2. The skyrocketing popularity of takeout during the COVID-19 pandemic is not just a temporary event, according to a National Restaurant Association study. Researchers found that 54 percent of adults, including 72 percent of millennials and 66 percent of Gen Z adults, said takeout food "is essential to the way they live." But plastic and Styrofoam takeout containers are wreaking havoc on the environment. Environment Lab found that 44 percent of plastics polluting the ocean are from takeout food containers. Bedford's Good Start Packaging founded in 2009 by CEO Ken Jacobus, is on a mission to provide compostable alternatives to plastic and foam takeout food containers that are made from renewable resources such as corn, sugar cane fiber, bamboo, and recycled paper. Way to go! (GlobeNewswire)
