Good Trouble's Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez have responded after the show was cancelled.

The Fosters spin-off was recently confirmed to be ending with its current fifth season, which is due to air its last episode in just a few weeks, on January 2. With Cruel Summer also axed (and Grown-ish ending in 2024), the channel Freeform currently has no scripted originals in the works after these series conclude.

Both lead actresses/executive producers responded to the cancellation news on their Instagram Stories (via TVLine).

Mitchell shared a photo of the pair and wrote: "10 years of making TV with my best friend. Could not be more proud of you."

In Ramirez's Instagram story, she wrote: "So many emotions right now after hearing that our beloved show, Good Trouble, has come to an end. The greatest one of all, being gratitude...

"It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to play a character on a show for 10+ years that has helped get important conversations started, pushed for transformative change in the world, & has inspired people to be themselves & find a place of comfort."

Addressing her character directly, the actress added that: "I can't tell if there's a part of me in you, or if you ARE me at this point, but nonetheless I will alwaysssss carry your sass, resilience & willingness to give to others.

"Oh, & you best believe I'll never let someone tell me I can't do something I've set my mind to."

She also thanked the show's writers for "pouring literal blood, sweat & tears" into their work, and Good Trouble's fans, saying: "One of my most favorite things about this experience is getting to meet so many beautiful people who related to this show, or saw themselves in it. It made it ALL the more worth it.

"This has been one of the biggest joys of my life, & I owe it ALL to you, your love, dedication & time that you've given us."

It has been reported that the cast have been given the opportunity to record some brand-new scenes for an extended finale in order to wrap things up better.

Good Trouble is available on BBC iPlayer and Disney+ in the UK, while it airs on Freeform in the US.
